【摘要】:Molybdenumisusedinengineeringapplicationswherestrengthandrigidityofcomponentpartsareneeded,especiallyathightemperatures.Itsgoodstrengthathightemperatures,lowvaporpressure,andgoodimpactandcreepresistancemakeitattractiveforload-bearingitemssuchasturbineblades,mechanicalseals,rocketmotorparts,heatingelements,andelectronicdevices.Molybdenum,however,iseasilyoxidized,andtheoxidesarenotprotective.Thevolatilityoftheoxidesabove800x00B0;Ccanlead,inthecaseofunprotectedparts,tocatastrophicoxidationandtolossesindimensions.Electroplatedcoatingsareappliedtomolybdenumtopreventoxidation,topreventseizingandgalling,andtoassistjoiningbysoldering,brazing,anddiffusionbonding.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureforpreparingmolybdenumanditsalloysforelectroplating.Theprocedureutilizestechniques,equipment,andchemicalsthatarecommontoelectroplating.Specializedproceduressuchashydrogenheattreatmentandfusedsaltpicklingarenotincluded.Theseandotherprocedurescanbefoundinthereferenceslistedattheendofthispractice.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
